About Isabelle

After successfully completing an AFL Master’s degree in English, German and Specialist Translation in Lille, I launched my professional career with a salaried position in a large company based in the region. In 1990 I decided to expand my horizons by working in the German city of Dortmund, in the Ruhr, and I stayed for six years.

I spent the following two years in Strasbourg before going home to Northern France to take up the position of translation department manager in a design office from 1999 to May 2005.

In June 2005 I fulfilled a long-held ambition to become a freelance translator.

My professional experience as a salaried employee of various companies in France and Germany has given me unparalleled insight into the subtleties of corporate communications.

My goal is to provide clients with impeccable translations which are precise, pertinent and pleasant to read – and delivered on time.

An Enthusiastic Germanist

My passion for the German language started back in secondary school and has continued to grow over the last forty years. Word order being very different in German compared to French, translating between this pair of languages requires a certain mental agility which I find particularly stimulating. I enjoy the daily challenge of producing very readable copy for French speakers. If, on the other hand, you are looking for translation from French into German, I can recommend a translation professional who is a German native and a regular and close collaborator of mine.

My Love for French

Your company deserves flawless communications in French. Which is why I only translate into the language I know the best, my mother tongue. For me, quality is a never-ending process of improvement. I refine my communication skills through avid reading, keeping up to date with the latest news and attending conferences on my specialist subjects. This approach allows me to identify new terms and expressions that I can use to give your translations more authority. I favour a fluent writing style that is both modern and compelling.

Working in English

In international communications there’s no getting away from the English language, especially in German marketing materials which often contain numerous Anglicisms. To ensure the high quality of my translations, it is essential for me to keep abreast of the latest developments in the English-speaking world. When it comes to translating from English into French, I am particularly specialized in the technical field, in particular emerging technologies.
